The thing about the thing

The thing that bugs me about the thing is that I only use it like once a year, so I have to relearn practically the whole darn thing every time. Plus I’m no natural at it, being way too prone to stargazing and talking people into pulling my finger to be much good at doing stuff like that.

Anyway, had to get that off my chest.

Sorry you only get to use it once a year. Maybe the upside is that it can be an amazing discovery every time you re-learn how to use it?

Well, if it was fun I would be bummed, but it ain’t so yay! (I was whining about Flash.)

Ah, whining. Computer related whining. I GET THAT.

    Hi Tom,

The ‘thing’ about the ‘thing’ is that it really isn’t as complicated as it seems on the surface. (yes, I’m talking about the ‘dreaded’ Flash!) My assertion is that, if I can learn it, anybody can! You’ve been good to me, so let me know if you want a copy of ‘Flash for the Non-Geek’ http://nongeekbooks.com/ and I’ll be sure to send it to you. By design, it is intended for those of us who prefer “stargazing.”

Thanks Pamala! I’m not really that jazzed about learning more about Flash, though. I’m only using it because I have to. Not my style of thinking. Anything with layers and a timeline, no matter how much I know, is going to boggle my mind. I’m not a time guy. More into space, as you know.

Oh yeah, do have one question for you though. How do you edit a graphic on the stage? Right now I have to change the original graphic in Photoshop then import it and use the “swap bitmap” thing. Where’s all Flash’s vauted drawing capability? I know it’s hiding in there somewhere. Once I got into a strange mode where my stage went away and it looked like I was in drawing mode. But I paniced without my stage and timeline and reverted.

    Dear WIll

I can remember well my Mothers’ words echoing about my brain..*Pamela a thing is an unspecified object…go away and come back only when you can adequately describe what a thing is* Jeebuz…A thing has always been… that a thing, or the very thing, or just the thing, or the thing is, or the thing being….

What’s hard to understand about that…

Exactly lets be preserving the thing in all it’s vagueness and stop pigeon holing these words.

Having a purist as a Mother was tricky at times…however i quickly got to learn how to spell nincompoop. I thought that was my name for a wee while… Nothing thing-ish about that word is there…

    Enjoyed that there post

Thanks Truly! I love things and doo-dads and whatnots and flanistans. My word is ya ya. I used to say goddamn gaddamn. “You wanna hand me the goddamn goddamn?” I have _________, which is the inability to remember common words occasionally, so I just insert ya ya, now (instead of goddamn goddamn).

Have a grand & glorious ya ya!
