Wisdom
The difference between knowledge and wisdom is courage. One can have all the knowledge in the world but without courage all it does is puff up your wishing and make you bossy. Knowledge is knowing what to do, but wisdom is doing it. Wisdom has little to do with what you know, only how you act.
If I could do half of what I know how to do I would be one lucky guy. Just read a book called Last Night in Montreal and in it a character has friends who sit around and talk about art a lot and another friend who never says a word but just goes out and takes photos. Who is the artist, who is wise?
Guess.
The wise one is the one who acts, the others just know. As much as I love knowing stuff, I have to say doing stuff is better. Who cares how much you know? Most people wish those who know would just shut up and get on with it. Knowing is good for telling other people what to do. Oh yay.
Goddess send me courage, not knowledge,

There is no way to success in art but to take off your coat, grind paint, and work like a digger on the railroad, all day and everyday.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

loved this Tom… and I will be quoting you. You inspire me.

Thanks la! May seem kinda odd me blogging on wisdom, but that’s the glory of writing, eh?
Knowledge is the roadmap and if it is correct, it can lead you to anywhere you want to go. Wisdom is knowing where to go, but you DO need the roadmap AND it must be correct.
Thanks Ron, I definitely agree knowledge is hugely important and can tell you where to go, but still think the going is more important than the knowing. If all a fella had for info was the 10 commandments and a lot of courage he could do some darn fine work. All the knowledge in the world won’t do a whole lot if all you do is sit around and talk about it.
This was incredibly inspiring to me. I’m a student right now and am often frustrated by my lack of knowledge and skill… it really helps to have reminders like these, that I’m out there working at it is what counts. it’s easy for me to focus on the mistakes I make and the vast amount of skill and knowledge I’ve yet to attain. I forget that there are plenty of people sill reading up on the subject and not getting there hands dirty. You rock!

Right on, Jake, so glad to be of assistance. Thank you, brother. Knowledge is something that’s available for the getting. Courage is not so easy to come by. Not something they have classes in. I tried Googling it, but didn’t feel any less afraid, afterward.
I know for a student knowledge ain’t so easy to get either, but when you have knowledge plus the courage and gumption to go out and use it, well, you got what you need! Good luck and congrats!
