The story of Story

Once upon a time there was a little mouse. Her name was Story. Which wasn’t her real name of course (that was Agatha). Since who ever heard of a name like Story? But everybody called her Story because she never told the truth, at least not the truth like mouse-folks was used to hearing it.

When her mama asked if she had brushed her claws before bedtime, she said of course Mama, I used the roof. And when her brother told her to hurry up, they were late for school, she said she was trying, but her tail got so heavy it sunk into the ground and now she was stuck.

Nobody could ever get the truth out of her, but they didn’t mind so much, because they liked her stories. Her homework was flew to the moon by a golden hummingbird-frog. She was late cause a cow stepped on her and it took so long to get unsquashed. The reason spring came early that one year was because Old Man Winter had forgot his trousers in the mailbox and had to stay home.

Some of her stories was funny, and some were sad. This is the story of a sad one.

Imagination is our friend! One thing I like about not knowing the truth is I get to lie with an easy conscience. Thanks Azyh, so glad you like the fibmeister. My young niece thinks “The Story of Story” is a corny name for a kid’s book, but I’m giving it a whirl anyways.

“Am I who I am?” Would like to quote your daughter in the extracto, if you can tell me her first name. Sometimes I think I’m somebody else, but can’t tell for sure. Questions of identity are always groovy for kids.

One thing about having a book called The Story of Story is I’ll get to slam in that symbolic crap I love so much. Wonder if I could call her Storey? Then maybe my niece won’t hate it so much.

    xoxo!

Elizabeth is happy to be quoted :) i told her it was the most perfect poetry on identity i have ever seen. Am I who I am? she said she just thought of it while we were talking Nanowrimo. Can you imagine what she would let her self come out with in 50,000 words? she decided its too many :( bah humbug 50,000 is easy.

I love the e in story gives it a layered shopping feel. Maybe a good idea to canvas more then one littly btw… the kid in me thinks its awesome as it is and the mum in me wants to share it with my little one.

wishing your niece learns to love more :)

Elizabeth is a lovely name. It will look delightful in the Extracto. We have that name in our family a lot. 50,000 is easy, when you’re doing it together. Alone it’s not so much.

Thanks Azyh! Cool that you like Storey. I kinda like it too. Makes the symbolism not so acute, but I still like the old way too. Oh well, time will tell, and November awaits.

And thanks for the love wishes.
