Isle of View
In keeping with my present gratitude theme, today’s blog is about Jimmie Spheeris. He, or actually his album Isle of View, was one of my favorites, back in the day. And I want to express my gratitude for living through the tail end of the ‘60s (officially known as “the 70s”) experience of love and peace. There was so much hope and joy in the young then. It was huge, back when naked breasts were rare and amazing, at least to this junior hippie from Longmont.
A thoughtful friend just sent along to me an NPR piece on Jimmie Spheeris. I had no idea his music almost died to the world. Thank you, powers that be, and friends of those who amn’t, for bringing it back.

It’s always amazing to watch well-meaning Jimmie fans steal his music… posting his work on so-called “free” music download sites. This is the sort of theft that brought the Jimmie restoration project to a halt.
If you must steal Jimmie’s music, please point your visitors to the Jimmie Spheeris Memorial Gallery (http://www.jimmiespheeris.com). Thanks.
Thanks for the reminder, Andy. Ever since the beginning of the internet, my concept of theft has become strangely elastic.
I’ll take down that song. I sure don’t want to be a part of bringing anything Spheeris to a halt. The cover painting by Ingo Swann (which I also generously “shared”), links to the site already, but I’ll change that song link to it as well.
Appreciate the wake-up!
Yours in over-borrowing,
Tom
