Prayer
Never been much of a pray-er. Maybe because I never knew who I was praying to, and felt kind of sheephish down on my knees, sending tentative words up to who knows where. Like a poser. A spiritual wise guy: How much you gimme for God?
Oh sure, there were lots of people who tried sharing their God with me. But their God always depended on which book they liked, and I’m not much good at finding God in a book, as much as I’ve tried. To me, novels are more like God than religious tomes are.
But a combination of circumstances has conspired to make me rethink. I wonder if that dolphin was God?
A friend of mine sent me this via email the other day, something called: Prayer: Opening to the Field of Love/Intelligence. Here’s a bit from that primer in praying. No idea who wrote it, though I’ll try to find out and include that:
Stage Three: In whatever way feels most natural to you, allow yourself to open and acknowledge the vast field of love/intelligence. (or wisdom/compassion) You might have your own name for this field – the indigenous traditions call it the web of life, with which each being in the universe is connected. In India they call it Indra’s Net.

Everyone of us has experienced, at one time or another, a sense of this field, the infinite web of life that interconnects us all. Most of the time we walk around behaving as if it does not exist, because it is invisible. We can’t see it, touch it or taste it. When we ignore it, we lose touch with one of our deepest resources, because the nature of this field is that it is loving and it is intelligent. See how it feels to acknowledge this field, even if your conditioned mind knows nothing about it, or remains quite sceptical about its existence.
Maybe that was why I felt such an immense sense of peace in the non-arms of that dolphin. For a few moments I was in direct connection with the web of life.

i think your onto something
dolphins are so amazing
wish i could hug the universe too
xx azyh
You can! Just hug yourself (on behalf of me if you don’t mind).
I think the only reason that dolphin was better than a human hug is social conditioning. When you hug a human often you’re hugging their baggage too – and your own, alas. Dolphins ain’t got arms so they don’t carry baggage.
xoxo!
oh, Tom! Indra’s Net! That’s the pattern I see everywhere — the carpet of old crusty leaves on the ground make it, the limbs of winter trees in the forest make it, the gravel in the driveway makes it, and in summer the leafy canopy!
I didn’t know it had a name! (but all along I knew what it was…)
It’s the ceiling of the Taj Mahal…
It’s everywhere
3~Namaste3~
I see that pattern too, in my dreams!
Thanks Claire and peace love,
