God
God is the vague feeling that everything will turn out all right.
At least that is my experience of He/She/It/Whatever. May not seem like much, but it’s all I got. Actually it’s huge. Even though the feeling is vague (though pretty certain for some reason) and not based on anything but the feeling itself, it is worlds away from having a void in that place.
For those driven to materialism, bad things are really, really bad. Redemption? Sorry. That baby died in horrible torment for nothing. Chance is the answer, the only answer for everything.
I have never been able to understand either the logic or utility of atheism. The logic apparently runs that since sacred texts are mostly metaphor, God doesn’t exist. Also that bad stuff happens. Such impeccable logic leads one to the inescapable conclusion that one is right, and therein lies the comfort of it all, one supposes. Even though there is no meaning, at least you know that, eh? The power of knowing one thing.
I’ve done a lot of searching for God. But never knew who I was looking for. Small surprise I could not find Him. Everywhere I look there is a different God. A different tale from every sacred mouth. The creator of the universe doesn’t possess sexual organs, and if you don’t know whether someone has an innie or an outie, how do you find them, place them in the cosmos?
I’ll show You mine if You show me Yours. What if You ain’t got none? Is the Universe wearing a fig leaf?
Dear God,
Who are You? Are you even a Who? Maybe you are a That. You cannot be a When or a Then, can You? Are you In or Out? Here or There? What are You?
John Doe
Yeah, pretty confusing, huh? How to find somebody who isn’t there, or else, is.
I do know, with as much certainty as someone of my experience can muster, that you can’t find God by reading alone. The Creator of the Universe is not contained in words. Not even Oprah’s. It did help give me that feeling, though, kinda, and that’s enough for now. A vague feeling is all I have, and boy do I love that feeling.
Reading is the key. Problem is there is no door.
Everything will be okay.
