Joy v. Fear
Howdy. No perky dashing out of bed at the crack o’ dawn this morning. Felt more like getting up to go to work. Still feeling creeped out by the border patrol and squeezed tight and weary by the brutal drive.
Perfect, a chance to follow my own advice. Let go. Yesterday the wind howled all the way from Great Falls, the day mostly cloudy. Today, a crystalline sky and the barest gentle breeze twinkling the tops of the cottonwoods, a day sent by God to uncreep all jaded travellers.
Time to make a decision. Shall I choose joy or shall I choose fear? What matter yesterday?
No matter. It’s gone, the only remnant a dim memory of my shrunken weenie in the mind of that border patrol lady. (Remind me to check the instructions on my camera and get that accidental exposure off there. Need to make room for purposeful compositions without any naked fat guys in them.)
Today is the first day of the rest of my trip. Using humor, love, forgiveness, and lots of gasoline, I shall expunge woe, fling it off like an old rag.
Off to beauty, wonder, and gratitude.
Once more your traveling wonder-boy,
LWIII
